During my recent stay at Tokonamiso, I found a tranquil refuge perfect for unwinding after long walks along the scenic Tsumago-Magome trail. While I had some initial concerns after reading various reviews, my experience at this hotel turned out to be quite pleasant. The hotel has no on-site dining, so I’d recommend bringing your own food or grabbing something in Magome before you arrive. It was quite handy having a fridge and tea-making facilities in the room. After a day of exploration, the spacious traditional-style room with its personal toilet was a welcome sight. What truly stood out for me was the access to the onsen at the sister hotel, Fuki-no-Mori. The open-air bath, especially, was a highlight of my stay—a real opportunity to relax in the healing waters surrounded by nature. The shuttle service was efficient, making the trip back to Tsumago seamless. All in all, Tokonamiso offers a unique and serene experience, especially for those wishing to enjoy Japan’s rich onsen culture. If you’re in the area, it’s worth considering a stay here for a peaceful getaway.
